Compression Wear

This is one of the first pairs I ordered. I have no idea why I ordered a large, instead of an XL.  I have now ordered a new pair.

Then I found this brand, which I got in XL and Tall!

And I got this recommended brand, Bioflect, in this micromassage pattern.  I really like them!

When you get your DNA tested through 23andme.com, you can download your raw data and then upload it to sites like Genetic Genie.  I am seeing a Functional Medicine doctor who uploaded mine to Pure Genomics.  It revealed the following SNPs.

(Single nucleotide polymorphisms, frequently called SNPs (pronounced “snips”), are the most common type of genetic variation among people. Each SNP represents a difference in a single DNA building block, called a nucleotide. For example, a SNP may replace the nucleotide cytosine (C) with the nucleotide thymine (T) in a certain stretch of DNA.)

"The SNP associated with low levels of Adiponectin, a hormone that maintains healthy glucose and lipid metabolism."

"This SNP is associated with increased food intake and weight gain."

"Reduced ability to convert omega-3 fatty acid pecursors (linolenic acid from flaxseed oil and other plant sources) to active omgea-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA).

"Genetic predispsition to  higher body weight and body fat percentage.  This is due to increased apetite and diminished satiety after meals. Carriers may be more likely to lose weight through diet and lifestyle modifications than non-carriers."

  • Increase protein intake
  • Consumed a whole food diet with an emphasis on colorful fruits and vegetables
  • Mediterranean diet
  • Get adequate sleep, which helps reduce cravings
  • Exercise regularly
Adiponectin is a hormone/protein secreted by fat/adipose tissues that can be used to measure lipid and adipose tissue dysfunction.  It is controlled by the ADIPOQ gene.  All participants in the study exhibited issues with the production and metabolism of Adiponectin.  Adiponectin levels have been measured to be lower among obese persons than adiponectin levels for those of “normal” weight.
Several internet articles report that there are some natural sources of Adiponetin available, but no long-term medical option to treat Adiponectin has been reported.
Foods and activities that purport to increase Adiponetin:
ExercisePumpkin oil and seeds
Rich CoffeeMacadamia Nuts
Weight lossBeets may be helpful because of their nitric oxide constituents
High quality fish oilFoods from the fruit and vegetable family
ChocolateEspecially Spinach

Helpful tips from the Internet:
  • Adiponectin helps control Cortisol which leads to excess belly fat.  Ghrelin stimulates hunger and is associated with Adiponectin.
  • Adiponectin can’t be taken directly, it is a hormone generated by your fat cells.  Statins (anti-cholesterol drugs), thiazolidinediones, angiotensin-converting-converting enzyme inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers are examples of pharmaceutical drugs that have been found to elevate circulating levels of adiponectin.  We are working to test the ideas that BioAcoustic frequencies can influence genes and receptors.
